On Sunday, April 22, 2018, Seth Hilfiker was recognized as the Star in Agribusiness at the 90th California FFA Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. More than 7,000 students cheered as Hilfiker accepted his award.
Hilfiker is from the the Holtville FFA chapter, part of the Southern Region. As a fifth generation agriculturist, he launched his business with pygmy goats, and has evolved into offering more than 30 services. Through operating First Brother Farms, he has been hired out by local FFA and 4-H members to buy and sell animals. Parts of his business include working with outside breeders, market goat producers, livestock sales and working with A11-IN Livestock Coop. Since his freshman year, he has grown his business by 575%. Hifiker spends numerous hours delivering animals across the country to members and their families.
Each year one member with the best non-production entrepreneurial agribusiness SAE and proven leadership skills is selected to be the California Star in Agribusiness. Four finalists compete for this prestigious award, the highest achievement for a person pursuing a career in agribusiness.
