The American Legion & Auxiliary Bradley Keffer Post 138 and the city of Holtville are co-hosting the Fifth Annual Imperial County Veterans Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Nov. 3 in downtown Holtville.
A WWII veteran will be the parade grand marshal. Veteran David Burns is embracing the honor to carry the centennial flag commemorating the anniversary of the end of World War I.
The day’s activities will start with a pancake breakfast from 7:30-9:30 a.m.
There also will be a Memorial Cornhole Fundraiser in Memory of Marine Cpl. Erik H. Silva, who was killed in action on April 3, 2003. There will be 40 two-person teams with monetary prizes to the top three teams. Donations will be $40 per team. Proceeds will benefit a memorial in Silva's memory. Applications can be picked up at city hall.
After the parade there will be a farmer’s market and beer garden, car show and a performance by the band Con-fusion in Holt Park.
